Application Review Process: Eligible Applications will be reviewed by NGO and representatives of the Island (collectively, the “Reviewers”) to determine in their sole discretion the top three (3) Applicants from each of the nine (9) eligible countries based on the qualifications described in their Applications as related to the needs of the Island.

The top three (3) Applicants from each country will be referred to as semi-finalist candidates (“Candidates”) and will be asked to participate in an interview with select Reviewers to take place over a Zoom video chat or such other online meeting platform designated by the Reviewers (the “Interview”). Candidates will be notified in advance via email/phone to schedule the Interview. Reviewers will determine date/time and duration of Interview. Failure of a Candidate to respond within twenty-four (24) hours of notification attempt or failure to participate in the Interview (including on camera video) during the scheduled time will result in the Candidate being disqualified from further review. All eligible Candidates will be evaluated based on their Application and Interview, and one (1) Candidate from each eligible country will be selected as the Volunteer from their eligible country and invited to participate in the Volunteer Opportunity, subject to verification of qualifications.

The selected Candidates (also called the Volunteers) will be notified via email/phone (“Notification”) and will be required to provide additional documents and information to verify their eligibility and willingness to accept a Volunteer position and participate in the Volunteer Opportunity (“Confirmation Documents”). Failure to return the Confirmation Documents within forty-eight (48) hours of receipt thereof will result in disqualification of that Candidate and the Reviewer’s next choice of Candidate from that country may be contacted and offered the Volunteer Opportunity, following the same process.

By participating in the Application process, Applicants/Candidates/Volunteers agree to the Terms and the decisions of the Reviewers, which shall be final and binding in all respects. All semi-finalist Candidates also agree to all portions of the vetting process, including, but not limited to, interviews, a background check, passport verification, psychological evaluation and release of health information (if any). Lenovo, NGO and the Island, through the Production Company and/or other third party vendors, reserve the right to conduct a background check on the Volunteers (subject to local restrictions/limitations), and they reserve the right in their sole discretion to disqualify any potential Volunteer based on the results of such background check, if Production Company determines in its sole discretion that such Volunteer might reflect negatively on the Program. Volunteers must understand that there is limited healthcare on the Island and they must provide a clean bill of health from a licensed healthcare professional prior to departure.

During the Volunteer Period on the Island, Volunteers will provide their skills and expertise to help support the local community and endangered wildlife for twenty (20) hours a week during their free time. In the event of any unforeseen or force majeure event (including without limitation epidemic, pandemic, communicable, contagious, or infectious disease or public health quarantine that impacts the Program or travel), travel may be unable to take place and the Program and Volunteer Opportunities may be cancelled. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, Volunteers traveling to Chile (“Travelers”) must adhere to the following Entry and Exit requirements (subject to change depending on local laws):

The health insurance must cover charges associated with COVID-19 during the Traveler’s stay, with a coverage of USD $30,000 (minimum). All documents must be presented before boarding the flight to Chile. *Foreign residents of Chile and holders of diplomatic/official passports are exempt from the health insurance requirements

The criteria for these permits are extremely strict, and include cases that may be humanitarian or medical in nature, where the travel is in Chile’s national interest, or where a Traveler is moving to another country. The U.S. Embassy cannot intervene on the behalf of individual cases where a permit is denied to a U.S.-Chilean dual national, or a U.S. citizen resident of Chile. Travelers should provide as much supporting documentation as possible when requesting permits.

Applications generated by script or bot are not eligible. Lenovo and NGO reserve the right to cancel, terminate or modify the Program if it cannot be completed as planned for any reason, including but not limited to for infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, technical failures or corruption of any sort or if there are an insufficient number of Applications.
